2007, a year in review and looking to 08/09 (December 18, 2007)
What a year. Really, just an incredible year for all of us and, in my opinion, the biggest in the companies near seven year existence.
It started with the announcement that EIRCA would be re-introducing H-Sphere reseller hosting in February and snowballed all the way to the recent announcement that our brands would all be merged in to one brand, “EIRCA Ltd”.
Let’s start from the most obvious place: January.
In January, myself and Callum sat down and discussed our lawsuit with Ernesto Haberli, the head of the “investment group” that purchased DIYHosting and proceeded to skip the country without settling his contractual agreements. We quickly decided that our constantly requested re-introduction of multi platform reseller hosting was something we just had to do. Not only did we have a bitter taste in our mouths about the DIYHosting sale, but we had a laundry list of features and services that we never had the chance to introduce under the DIYHosting brand.
So, the wheels were put in motion and our re-entry in to the H-Sphere reseller sector was planned and executed by our technical staff with incredible aplomb. We started with a dedicated group of former clients who came back to us, and it
gained great momentum to bring us to today, where we have (only a week ago) added our 150th server since February 10th. That’s a rate of one server added in every ~3 days.
2007, when we look back on it in five years, will no doubt go down as the “step up year”. I can’t even begin to express how excited we are at the current growth, stability and future of EIRCA Ltd as a company. It would be remiss of me to not point out who is primarily responsible for this growth and stability: You, our clients and partners. For some reason, we just seem to attract great clients. It sounds like a “suck up”, but whether it sounds like that or not, it’s the surprising truth that our clients should get the credit for this amazing year. For the whole year, we have been inundated with feature requests, suggestions, etc and not just one-liners like “give me Ruby or Rails!” but really specific and long-term suggestions that will benefit the company in the future. We have a surprising number of clients who, at our suggestion/request, took time out of their day to send us pages and pages of business proposals. Thank you, all of you, for being our clients.
So, the future beckons. What does it hold? The answer: A lot!
The first big item on the agenda is the finalization of the merger between the Sanfire and EIRCA brands. We’re at around 80% completion right now and after the Christmas break that final 20% will be rattled off at a great pace.
EIRCA Live, you ugly thing!
EIRCA Live is a great resource, it has tons of documentation, tutorials movies and guides. But boy is it ever ugly, but not for long.
Work has begun on the EIRCA Live! makeover. Not only will the portal get a new look but the new features being introduced are set to double the efficiency of the customer portal. The work on the new portal will be completed before the annual and famous “Get Lucky!” promotion on and around St. Patrick’s day in 2008.
Broadening our focus
2008 will see many things, but an expansion of our service focus will be primary. Every product, from shared to dedicated hosting, will be given an on-demand core. We will be introducing many “on demand” features as we look to further solidify our position in the three main hosting sectors. From private networking to SaaS, we’ll be looking at closing out 2008 with a firm and sure market description of “On-demand IT service provider”.
From our clients’ side of things, we encourage all of you to continue sending your requests and suggestions. We do listen and, if the request is something we see as viable, it will make it in to our service offering.
Have a great Christmas period, folks, and here’s to an awesome 2008!
