So, folks, our big announcement is now made and is currently making its rounds around all the major industry news sites, no doubt being commented on by many people, most of which will have been positive.

So how long as this been planned, what does it mean for EIRCA, and all the other potential questions get answered.

Cutting right through to the crux of the announcement, here’s what it boils down to:

Softlayer Technologies, one the fastest growing hosting infrastructure providers in North america (3 datacenters), offers unmanaged dedicated server hosting. They provide an incredible network and infrastructure. EIRCA Ltd provides best-in-class management for dedicated servers and clusters. You can see why the two companies might join forces. It’s just a natural step.

Softlayer has no other web hosting providers that they choose to partner with. They have many being hosted within their multiple locations but EIRCA is the only official and preferred partner. We’re rather proud of that fact and we think it’s another indication that this company is making massive strides in the right directions and is on the cusp of big things.

Partnering with softlayer will enable us to leverage their infrastructure and enable softlayer to send clients to someone they trust when said client wants managed hosting. The mutually beneficial partnership is something that’s been in the works for a while. I started speaking with Steven Canale (VP of Sales) at Softlayer around 9 months ago and more recently discussions have taken place between myself and the CSO of softlayer, George Karidis.

An important item to note is that this partnership is long term. Both ourselves and Softlayer have discussed and dissected this potential partnership for a long time and collectively we agree that it can lead to great things.

Speaking in the short term, this partnership will allow us to swiftly and efficiently provision more and more servers and clusters within the Softlayer facilities, expanding the GCS even more, possibly even to a 4th, 5th, 6th (etc) location around the world.

When I say this announcement is big, I mean it in the most literal sense. This will, in my opinion, be one of those days that we look back on in 5-10 years and say “yes, that was the most pivotal day in company history”.

Thanks, Paul. We’ve been waiting for this for a while and it’s going to be a major introduction for all involved, yourself and Equentity included.

That is really big news. Congratulations! It is great to see Eirca to be the ONLY ‘common’ hosting company in the partners’ page of SoftLayer. Keep up the good work!
